Zealand and have been sent by Philip Hunt for use by the Mining Museum. Thank
you Philip and Tony Legg has provided the shot of Number 12 mine. Norden Mines September 1974 Mike Day has provided these 3 photographs taken from the hills. You can just make out the Pit Heads of Number 5,6 and 12 in the left hand one (12 is just to the right of centre and 6 is to the left of centre and is the old shape. On the left edge of the picture is the spoil heap from 16, and just above and slightly right is 5, the original furthest extent of the clay line. 5 tunnel was collapsed by 1969.) In the centre photograph towards the left is Number 14. Towards the right is the compressor house, forge, foreman's office and other buildings The last photograph shows the large area of pits that have now been backfilled and landscaped. |
