Mike Giles e-mailed in and regretted (like the rest of us) that he didn't take enough photos in his youth
"How I wish that I'd taken photos of the mines at work. I used to go to work with Les Gover at Creech Grange mine during my school holidays in the late sixties, and then ride around to the other mines with his brother, Harold, who was mines foreman then, in the company van. I can clearly remember going underground at Aldermoor and looking up South Creech adit, and after more (of that awkward stooped) walking, looking up Greenspecks adit. Having to avoid the miners steering the tubs in the downhill lanes too, with their boots sliding on the tramrails, their heels acting as guides like wheel flanges. Happy days!"
