The Purbeck Mineral & Mining Museum
MEMORIES               A good day out

Hello there, I came to the Swanage railway with my parents, partner and son and stumbled onto your work at Norden station regarding the clay mines. I have to tell you that this was the best part of the day for both my father and mother. My dad used to work down the mines himself in the late 60's/early 70's and knows a lot of the characters who worked there many decades before. My mother was also moved as she saw her late uncle in one of the photos in the foreman's hut and we were able to identify him for John Rowley who happily showed us around. Between the three of them they were reeling off tens of names of people associated with the railway and mines.
